Make the "Write" Choice - Unisa Students Express Your Opinions on our Blog

Do you feel you have got something to say but nowhere to say it/ write it?

If this sounds like you, you are in luck. We have decided to open the Armstrong's Unisa Books blog to contributors - giving Unisa students and others a voice.

So, What's in it for me? Why should I write for the Armstrong's Unisa Books Blog?

Unfortunately we cannot pay for your submissions (yet) but here is what you will get should we choose to publish your writing on our blog.

  1. A warm fuzzy feeling which comes from sharing your knowledge with fellow Unisa students.
  2. A chance to share your views with hundreds of Unisa students. This should soon grow to thousands as the new year begins and everyone gets into "Unisa mode" - This month the blog has had over 1700 pageviews.
  3.  If you are a business person you will be able to promote your business by publishing  interesting and relevant articles on our blog. Should you wish us to we will publish your contact details below your articles. (obviously we will not publish any articles that are too "sales pitchy".
What is the most important thing for me to consider when writing for the Armstrong's Unisa Books blog?

Consider the readership of our little (but growing) publication. It is very important that your articles are relevant and beneficial to Unisa students. The more specifically your articles relate to Unisa students the more likely it is that they will be used. We do, however, publish general interest articles, so long as they are entertaining.

What type of things should I write about?

  • Write about what interests you. The more interested you are in the subject the more likely it is that your article will be interesting. It is true of course that you should not only think about what you are interested in writing. You should also consider what others will be interested in reading. An article expressing your keen interest in the mating habits of flamingos is all very well but it is irrelevant if your audience couldn't tell the difference between a flamingo and an Ostrich.
Write on things which relate to subjects studied by Unisa students
This gives you a wide variety of subjects to write on:

  • psychology
  • education
  • information technolgoy
  • finance
  • business
  • entrepreneurship
  • languages
  • English literature
  • law

  • Be inspirational. If you would like to read bad news just read the Star or Citizen. Armstrong's Unisa Books blog prefers to focus on good news.

  • Be fun. Just because you take your Unisa studies seriously doesn't mean you should take life too seriously. Tell us where you go and what you do when you are not studying. Give other Unisa students the chance to enjoy the same things you do.
       * We are particularly interested in:

        * Movie reviews ( new and old movies)
        * book reviews
        * restaurant reviews
        * gadget reviews - we would love to hear which gadgets you find most useful.
        * interesting places to visit
        * bar/pub / nightclub recommendations.

What type of article will be rejected by the blog's editor?

  1. Articles with numerous spelling mistakes (please use a spell check it's a great invention)
  2. Articles that are too controversial (we will decide what is too controversial)
  3. Articles with very poor grammar.
  4. Articles which contain swear words.
How long should my articles be?

Less is more. We will consider publishing articles between 250 - 1000 words. We may publish longer articles if they are very good.

I'm in? How can I submit articles for publication on the Armtrong's blog?

Send your submissions to richard@armstrongs.co.za . Please use, " blog post" as the subject line.

Will I get confirmation that my article has been used?

Sorry, we are really busy so we cannot e-mail every author. You will just need to keep checking the Armstrong's Unisa Books blog to see if your masterpiece has been published.

What are the Terms and Conditions which I am agreeing to by sending my articles to Armstrong's?

* You give Armstrong's Unisa Books  exclusive rights to use your work on their Blog and within other social     media.
* You are confirming that you are either the author of the work or have a legal right to the work.
* Your article is has not yet been published anywhere else online.
* All information contained in your article is correct/truthful.
